Medical Evacuation (Medevac): The Pilot’s Critical Responsibilities

Overview This live session will walk you through the Medevac pilot’s responsibilities beyond “just flying.” We’ll cover pre-flight planning, in-flight execution, and post-flight turnaround, showing how pilot decisions directly affect patient outcomes and crew safety.

What you’ll learn

• Medevac basics: air vs. ground, crew roles, onboard equipment

• Pilot’s workflow: weather/terrain, alternates, ATC & hospital comms

• In-flight stability: altitude/turbulence management for patient care

• Post-flight discipline: debrief, logs, checks for rapid readiness

• Safety vs. urgency: when aborting can be the most life-saving choice
